Polyamide 6 – Oil-Infused Rods
Our Nylon 6 Oil-Infused Yellow Rod is a versatile engineering plastic renowned for its outstanding features. It boasts excellent sliding properties, is self-lubricating, and significantly improves “stick-slip” performance.
Oil-Infused Polyamide: Through a specialized manufacturing process, we incorporate a liquid lubricant, ensuring true lubrication at the bearing surface. This results in a cast nylon infused with built-in oil lubrication. The oil lubrication is uniformly dispersed within the cast nylon 6 during production, becoming an integral part of the material’s structure. It remains consistent and reliable, even under the most demanding working conditions, without spinning out, drying out, or draining out.
This oil infusion reduces friction at the bearing interface by up to 25%, enhancing the wear life compared to unfilled or moly-filled cast nylons. While our standard grade features a yellow color, we also offer a natural (off-white) colored version approved by FDA and USDA.
The oil-infused Nylon 6 Rod offers a long-term service temperature range from -40°C to 85°C and has a short-term maximum service temperature of 160°C. It finds widespread applications in mechanical engineering, the packaging industry, conveyor systems, machine components, such as bearings, bushings, gears, valve seats, wear surfaces, rollers, and guides.
This material is well-suited for CNC turning, milling, and precision grinding. In addition to our Oil-Infused Nylon 6 Rod, we offer related materials like Nylon 6 Cast Natural Rod and Acetal C Extruded Natural Rod.
