Glass Filled PTFE Bushings Glass Filled PTFE Bushings Glass Filled PTFE Bushings
Enhance Your Bushings with 25% Glass-Filled PTFE
Our glass-filled PTFE bushings boast superior strength and durability, minimizing flexibility and the potential for creep. These glass-filled PTFE bushings operate within the same temperature range as virgin PTFE and exhibit similar chemical inertness. The introduction of glass minimally impacts PTFE’s electrical and chemical properties. It is resistant to acids and oxidation, although it may be vulnerable to alkali substances.
Short glass fibers, typically in quantities ranging from 15% to 25%, are used as the glass filler. As the glass filler content increases, so does durability and compressive strength. Our Glass-filled PTFE bushings consist of 25% clean milled fibers and 75% virgin PTFE, available in a white-grey hue with a hardness rating of 60 shore D.
This material offers heightened stiffness and superior wear properties compared to virgin PTFE. While it may not be suitable for use with soft metal counterparts and has limited applicability in hot water, PTFE with 25% glass filler in the bushings offers increased compressive strength and exceptional creep resistance (resistance to deformation under load). Note that glass fillers can be abrasive, so careful consideration of hardware compatibility is advisable.
For further improvements, our glass-filled PTFE can be subjected to inert gas sintering, reducing both its tendency to creep and porosity. It’s important to be aware that glass-filled PTFE bushings exhibit a higher abrasiveness than Virgin PTFE, which means they can potentially affect adjacent surfaces.
