Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) Film Overview: Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) film is an impact-modified, unreinforced extrusion grade known for its exceptional properties. PPS offers high tensile elongation, flexibility, and ductility, making it a versatile material. It also boasts remarkable high-temperature resistance, impact strength, and chemical resistance. This grade, including Fortron® PPS, retains its traditional benefits, such as excellent adhesion to nylons and polyolefins, and low fuel permeation rates, making it an ideal choice for various applications.
Impact-Modified PPS Fortron® SKX-382: Fortron® SKX-382 is an impact-modified polyphenylene sulfide with unique ductility and flexibility. Its high melt strength allows for extrusion and blowmolding applications, either as a monolayer or part of multilayer structures. This material adheres well to nylons and polyolefins and offers impressive mechanical properties. With a tensile elongation at break of 25%, a flexural modulus of 2140 MPa, and a notched Izod impact strength of 40 kJ/m2, it is a reliable choice for various industries. Ryton® PPS Film is also available as an option.
Applications of PPS: PPS is widely used in applications requiring high-temperature and chemical resistance. With a continuous use temperature of 428°F and exceptional resistance to various chemicals, PPS finds applications in automotive, electronics, and OEM industries. It stands out for its resistance to chemicals, with no known solvents below 392°F (200°C) and inertness to steam, strong bases, fuels, and acids. Additionally, PPS exhibits minimal moisture absorption and a low coefficient of linear thermal expansion, making it ideal for precise tolerance machined components. As an unfilled material, PPS can be easily machined to close tolerances, making it suitable for structural applications in corrosive environments or as a lower-temperature alternative to PEEK.
Natural Fortron® PPS SKX-382 and Ryton® Film: The natural color of Fortron® PPS SKX-382 and Ryton® film is Off White, providing a clean and versatile appearance.
